Classroom Policy
1. Be on time for arrival and departure. Parents are not allowed to sit inside the class while their child is taking class. If they desire to stay at the studio while their child attends class, they must sit in the designated waiting area. If they desire to drop off their child for class, they must pick them up on time. They will be charged $1/minute for each minute they are late. It is vital that students are on time and do not miss the class warm up and announcements. The lack of warm up can cause injuries. 15 minutes after class has started, the door will be LOCKED. If there is an emergency or circumstances that will require you or your child to be late for class, either email or call ahead of time, and your child will be able to come in and observe the class, but cannot participate due to injury prevention. *If you arrive between the time class starts and 15 minutes, your child (ages 6 & up) must sign the tardy list. If you know that you will be arriving more than 15 minutes late, contact us before hand and we will work with you. More than 3 tardies calls for a parent, teacher conference. All parent-teacher conferences due to tardiness or even child behavioral issues must be set up by way of email at [email protected], teachers should not be interrupted before, during or after class. Parents must set up a separate time to meet with teachers. Secondly, there is no such thing as non-participation in class. A student can only sit out during class if they are injured or not feeling well. Even then, we require that they fill out a non-participation form full of questions in regards to the current lesson being taught to keep them engaged and to prevent them from falling behind in class. The form must be turned into the teacher after class. 2. Absolutely no gum chewing 3. All hair must be pulled back 4. No sandals, flip flops, jeans, and shorts or shirts that are too revealing. 5. Water bottles allowed, but no food and snacks are allowed during class. 6. Use the restroom before or after class. If it is unmanageable or an emergency, student may quietly go to the restroom. 7. Do not talk while the teacher is talking. 8. Raise your hand before speaking or getting up. 9. SAFETY & RESPECT- Keep hands, feet, and harsh words to ourselves. 10. Listen to instructions and follow them the 1st time. 11. Bring an excellent teachable attitude. (Teacher will go over classroom rules and appropriate behavior at the beginning of each class to remind the students) 12. There are 4 steps to our classroom management system: Step 1- Reminder Step 2- Warning Step 3- Change of Space Step 4- Sit out while writing their reason for sitting out and what they will do to fix their behavior Step 5- A phone call, email, or note home to parents Step 6- students will be suspended for one month with revoked dance privileges (no tuition refunded). They must immediately write a letter of apology to the staff, and schedule an appointment with the board to state their case as to why they should be readmitted into the dance program (there is no age or donor level discrimination; all students under the age of twelve must attend their appointment with their legal guardian). The board will decide whether or not the student may continue after one month of suspension. Step 7- Permanently removed from the program. ***Students are also required to show their teacher one technique they've learned during class before exiting the classroom. The behavior of our younger students are evaluated using our sticker system. |
