Youth Dance Classes
Ages 3 to 17 years old 1. Students are presented with a word of the month each month, along with a scripture of focus that supports the word of the month. They are also given food logs, in which they are required to track their eating habits every week. The student that best exemplifies the word of the month and consumes the most health food items for the month is acknowledged and celebrated all throughout the school and online for their awesome achievements. They also participates, in what is called "Dance Confessions". This allows the student of the month to share what they did to earn the achievement, along with the habits they developed to achieve the title of "The Student Consumed the Most Health Food Items". LIVE on social media! 2. Each class is up to 1 hour length. The first few minutes of each class will consist of devotion/character education segment, education on the art form, an influential choreographer that represents that particular dance discipline, a dance history lesson, or dance application. Dance technique and performance are taught for the remainder of class. Students are required to write their dancer statement and goals during the first day of class. They are given terminology sheets and lessons, and are required to take notes and review at the end of each dance class. Students are also required to show their teacher one technique they've learned during class before exiting the classroom. 3. Lectures, Workshops, Guest Choreographers and Teachers, and Intensives will take place at least once per session. Date and Time TBA in monthly newsletter. 4. Classes are for individuals of all nationalities, socio-economic status, sex, and religion. Even those of physical, emotional, mental, or learning disability are welcome (We will have innovative classes or private lessons). 5. All classes are accompanied with diverse inspirational, positive, family friendly music of any Christian music genre, including international jazz, classical, techno, any form of instrumental 6. Classes for students ages 5 and younger will have storybook time at the last 10 minutes of each class, in which they will read a story book that touches on character building principles. Students will act out the story through dance. This gives them insight on how to perform and the freedom to feel like a professional dancer using their imagination and technique they’ve learned in class. 7. Classes take place for a session. Parent Observation Day takes place at the end of either the Fall or Spring session. Parents will be given student evaluations and class recommendations, to let them know of their child's progress. They will also receive our quality control survey to provide feedback on our progress. All parent conferences must be arranged via email at [email protected]. This prevents teachers from being distracted as they teach their classes. There is 1 "Bring a Friend Week" per session and 1 "Parent Education Session" per session. Performances take place at the end of either session. Students, Legal Guardian, Contributors, Volunteers, Board Members, Teachers, and Guest Teachers can attend our "VIP Pre-performance Love Feast" before our performance. Days and times TBA! |
